Nice vintage original souvenir medal for the Rainbow Pier and Auditorium in Long Beach, California

The Rainbow Pier was completed in 1931 and was notable for being designed to accommodate automobiles, encircling the 40-acre Rainbow Lagoon. The second Municipal Auditorium was completed in 1932 and extended 500 feet into the water at the center of the pier. The pier was undermined by wave action and filled with sand by the 1960s, eventually replaced by Shoreline Drive. The Auditorium was demolished in 1975 to make way for the Long Beach Performing Arts Center and Convention Center.
